Semifinals
Doubleheader at Northeast
Frankford 51, Penn 0
Harold McCoy rushed 15 times for 116 yards and two TDs as
Frankford steamrollered despite the absence of starting QB Scott
Croft (flu). Dave DeNofa kicked a 31-yard field goal and four PAT.
Central 13, West 12
Running behind what was often an eight-man line, Cordell Chapman
produced 175 yards and two TDs on 34 carries. Victor Bellamy's
29-yard kickoff return and 20-yard reception helped to set up Chapman's
second TD, followed by John Fernandez's kick. For West, Eldridge
Comer ran 15 times for 71 yards and two scores.
Final
At Northeast
Frankford 22, Central 18
Scott Croft threw an 18-yard TD pass to Mike Gourdine to give
Frankford a 15-12 lead, then ran 2 yards for a score with 1:40 remaining
after Central had stormed ahead on a 58-yard bomb from Joel Murphy
(6-for-16, 127 yards) to Vic Bellamy. At 10-0-0, the Pioneers posted the
best record in school history and its first-team defense allowed just
three TDs all season.
