West Catholic 44, Dougherty 0: On one of his four TDs, Brandon
Hollomon broke a city postseason record that had stood since 1922: His 99-yard
punt return eclipsed a 95-yarder by Roman's Charlie McKinney in a CL final.
Hollomon also tallied on a pair of rushes (4-80) and a 58-yard pass from Jarred
Evans. Three weeks earlier, the archdiocese had announced that Dougherty (and
North Catholic) would close in June. This was the Cardinals' final game and
cemented their 53-season record at 227-290-15, counting a 2-5 mark against
patchwork opposition in 1957. West coach Brian Fluck showed good sportsmanship
by ordering backup QB Jaleel Reed to take a knee on four consecutive plays,
starting at the 10 with 3:24 left. Dougherty's final play was a 4-yard run by
Tarik Morris.
At Plymouth-Whitemarsh
McDevitt 21, Carroll 0: The teams combined to throw just five
passes, with only one occurring in a 40-minute first half. Gary Postell ran 25
times for 143 yards and a TD. Martin "Nico" Henry set up that score with a
55-yard run and added a clinching TD with an 18-yard return of an intercepted
pitchout.

La Salle 35, SJ Prep 28: Junior Kevin Forster, the last of four
brothers to cause the Hawks so much heartache in football and/or lacrosse,
scored the winning TD on a 37-yard pass from Drew Loughery and then ran to the
sideline, right near that same end zone, to exchange hugs with Rob, Jack and
Randy. It was his first TD catch of the season. The Explorers rallied from a
28-20 deficit as Loughery finished 21-for-31 for 297 yards and one score apiece
to Jamal Abdur-Rahman (5-58), Sam Feleccia (4-59) and Connor Hoffman (6-91) in

West Catholic 21, Bok 7: The Burrs entered with a 36.6 scoring
average, but found themselves trailing at halftime, 7-0, thanks to a TD pass
from Andre Frazier to Gary Jackson. John Ruppert, a starter on the defensive
line since his freshman year, then added guard duties and West again looked
somewhat like its usual self. Brandon Hollomon finished with 177 yards (149
beyond intermission) and two TDs on 29 carries. Jarred Evans ran for a 2-yard
score and passed 13-for-17 for 119 yards while eclipsing the school season

Wood 42, Gratz 6: The Vikings stormed to 28 points in the
second quarter, thus assuring the second half would be played with a running
clock. Charlie McCairns sparked the outburst by logging three tackles
behind the line and recovering a mishandled squib kickoff.
Jerry Rahill passed 11-for-14
for 180 and one TD apiece to Kevin Murt and Scott Adkins and turned shotgun
snaps into scores of 37 and 18 yards. Murt (10-55) also ran for two
six-pointers. Gratz' score came on a 46-yard run by Jamir Anderson.

La Salle 31, Washington 20: This one started like 2008's -- La
Salle chose to receive, Washington kicked off with wind and played good defense,
and scored a quick TD (on Aaron Wilmer's 47-yard keeper). The one big exception
-- Holding wiped it out. The Explorers not only regrouped. They coasted to a
31-7 lead before Washington posted a pair of fourth quarter TDs. Jamal
Abdur-Rahman made two interceptions, returned a fumble 36 yards for a score and
contributed 132 yards of rushing (40) and receiving (82, another TD). Drew
Loughery passed 13-for-21 for 188 yards and three TDs, with the other two going
to Sam Feleccia and Connor Hoffman (5-60). Mike Bennett hammered a 37-yard field
goal and sent four of his six kickoffs to the end zone. Shane Brady made 11
tackles. Wilmer accounted for 306 yards, passing 16-for-28 for two scores and
bagging another 140 on 18 carries.
