PL football realigns again
(11/16/05)
Once again, for Public League football, change is in the offing.
Chairman Joe Stanley said yesterday that two teams will join the varsity league next season and that the Class AAA champion, unlike this season, will be eligible for the overall title due to changes involving state-playoff scheduling.
The new teams will be Communications Tech, which played a 2005 nonleague schedule, and Samuel Fels, which fielded a JV squad. CT will be in AAA; Fels in Blue.
The eight playoff entrants will be four from Red, two from White, and one apiece from Blue and AAA. The AAA champ and overall champ will compete in the state playoffs.
There will also be movement between divisions, based on this season's finishes. Jules Mastbaum Tech drops from Red to White, with Simon Gratz moving up. Also, West drops from White to Blue, with Overbrook moving up.
