  Division IA/AA Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio State WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) grabbed 5 balls for 53 yards and a TD in a 34-24 loss to Michigan State in the Big 10 Championship game.
 
  Division IAA Defensive Player of the Week: NONE
 
  Division II/III Offensive Player of the Week: West Chester QB Sean McCartney (Wood) threw 16/25 for 180 yards and 1 TD while adding 25 yards on the ground leading a turnover free offense to victory and into the semifinals.
 
  Division II/III Defensive Players of the Week: West Chester CB Al-Hajj Shabazz (Bartram) recorded 3 tackles and returned a interception 76 yards for a score and DB Blaise Schieler (West Catholic) recorded 6 huge tackles and broke up 2 passes helping the GoldenRams reach the NCAA D2 semi-finals.
 
Notes/Tidbits
 
**Congrats to all the players in FBS programs from the city leagues who are going "Bowling" this year. This year we have 2 guys who even made it to a BCS game with Ohio State WR Corey "Philly" Brown (O'Hara) leading the 7th ranked 12-1 Buckeyes into the Orange Bowl against Clemson. Also Oklahoma DB Kass Everett (Roman) leads his squad into a showdown in the Sugar Bowl against #3 Alabama.
 
**This weekend here at the Linc a few city guys get to play in front of the hometown crowd as Navy & Army tangle in what always seems to be a great game.
 
**In Division III playoff action Mt. Union stormed out to an early 31-0 lead before Wesley (DE) College stormed back and took the #1 team in the nation down to the final play of the game in a 62-59 setback.
 
**In Division II playoff action underdog West Chester University shocked host Shepherd 28-7 to capture the Super Region 1 title and earn a berth in the NCAA D2 semifinals where they will travel to Hickory, NC to play Lenoire-Rhyne this Saturday for the right to advance to the NCAA D2 Championship game in Florence, Alabama. As mentioned earlier CB Haji Al-Shabazz was huge in this game, including the game-turning, 76-yard interception return for a TD.
 
**Congrats to Salve Regina C Floyd Shaffer on being named to the D3football.com All East Region 2nd team. Also congrats to Delaware Valley College RB Kyle Schuberth (Bonner) who was named to the All East 3rd team.

Division IA/AA Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Pittsburgh LB Matt Galambos (Haverford) recorded 5 tackles in a 41-31 loss to Miami.
 
Division IA/AA Offensive Player of the Week: Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) once again dominated on the offensive end with a 4 reception 142 yard and 1 TD performance in a romp over Arizona.
 
Division IA/AA Defensive Player of the Week: Nebraska LB Zaire "Bam" Anderson (Frankford) recorded 6 tackles in a loss at Iowa.
 
Division II/III Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Bloomsburg TE Aaron Allison (Frankford) recorded 3 receptions for 24 yards and his 2nd career TD in Bloom's narrow defeat to West Chester 41-38 in the quarterfinals of NCAA D2 playoff action

Division II/III Offensive Player of the Week: West Chester QB Sean McCartney (Wood) completed 24/39 passes for 339 yards and 3 TDs in a 41-38 victory over Bloomsburg
 
Division II/III Defensive Player of the Week: Bloomsburg DB Donovan Morris (Washington) chipped in with 3 tackles and 1 pass break up while recording an interception returned for 32 yards.

**In Division III playoff action Wesley knocked off #24 Ithaca to make an appearance in the D3 quarterfinals against perennial power Mount Union.
 
**In Division II playoff action West Chester jumped out early on Bloomsburg and held on for a 41-38 victory behind the monster game of former Wood QB Sean McCartney as well as defensive stalwarts LB Drew Formica (O'Hara), LB Mike Labor (SJ Prep), DB Blaise Schieler (West Catholic).
 
**As of today there will be 13 teams represented by former city league guys playing in bowl games this year with Rutgers hoping to be the 14th team if they can secure a win this weekend against Memphis. Ohio State (WR Corey Brown from O'Hara) can claim a BCS title berth if they knock off Michigan State Saturday evening in the Big 10 championship game and can stay ahead of #3 Auburn & #4 Alabama in the BCS standings.
 
**This week's game of the week in FCS will pit Towson v Fordham in 2nd round D1AA playoff action with both teams sporting a win over an FBS program (Towson knocked off UCONN and Fordham knocked off Temple) earlier this season.
 
**Congrats to Ohio State WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) being named to the 2nd team All-Big Ten team by coaches & media and also to Northwestern S Ibraheim Campbell (SCHA) who was named honorable mention All-Big Ten. Also congrats to Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) who was named 2nd team All Pac-12 by the media/coaches.
 
**Bethune Cookman's Center Andrew Edourad (Overbrook) was voted to 1st team All MEAC. Central Connecticut State RB Rob Hollomon (West Catholic) garnished 2nd team All NEC honors as a RB and Return Specialist.
 
**Former City guys in the NFL had huge impacts in their teams fate this past weekend. Miami Dolphin CB Brent Grimes (Shippensburg-Northeast) snagged his 4th interception helping the Dolphins seal a road victory against the Jets to stay alive in the playoff race. Meanwhile Baltimore Ravens LB Jameel McClain (Syracuse-Washington) recorded 3 tackles helping Baltimore stay alive in the AFC North with a 22-20 win over the Steelers. Minnesota Viking DT Sharrif Floyd (Florida-Washington) collected 2 tackles including a sack and a QB Hit in the Vikings 23-20 OT win over the Bears.

  Division IA Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong (West Chester) recorded 6 snags for 91 yards and a TD in ASU's 38-33 win over UCLA to claim the PAC 12 South title.

  Division II/Division III Defensive Player of the Week: John Hopkins LB John Arena (SJ Prep) recorded 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a half sack and blocked a kick in a heartbreaking 1st round NCAA D3 playoff loss to Wesley 29-24

**Congrats to the 6 Division IAA teams with city league guys on their rosters who were selected for the D1AA playoffs starting this weekend. Maine (2), Towson (2), Bethune Cookman (1), Sacred Heart (2), Lafayette (3), & Coastal Carolina (2). Best wishes to all involved in the playoffs on a successful run and hopefully one of the city guys can hold up the championship tropy in Texas.
 
**In Division II Playoff Action last week West Chester behind QB Sean McCartney (Wood), WR's Eric Brundidge (Northeast), Adam Dempsey, LB's Mike Labor (SJ Prep), Drew Formica (LaSalle), OL Adam Citko (Wood), OL James Colivas (Bonner) and DB's Al-Hajj Shabazz (Bartram) & Blaise Schieler (West Catholic) recorded their first NCAA playoff win in over 5 years and advance to take on Bloomsburg this upcoming Saturday.
 
**In Division II Playoff Action last week John Hopkins was upset at home by Wesley 29-24 ending what was a remarkable season which finished at 10-1. Wesley has 3 city guys on their roster and will move on to host #24 Ithaca in 2nd round action this Saturday.

In Super Region 2 Tuskegee was selected as the #6 seed. Best wishes to all the city league guys in their quest for a NCAA Division II National Championship.
 
**In Division III News 3 schools with city league guys on their roster were chosen for the Playoffs. John Hopkins, Wesley & Ithaca all were seeded in the same bracket. John Hopkins hosts Wesley Saturday while Ithaca hosts Framingham State.
 
**Rutgers true freshman TE Nick Arcidiacono recorded 3 receptions for 23 yards in a loss to Houston. For the season thus far he has 5 receptions for 44 yards
 
**The game of the week will pit Patriot League foes Lehigh (1 city guy) v Lafayette (3 city guys) in the 149th rivalry game which is not only for bragging rights but for the series trophy, Patriot League title and NCAA automatic playoff bid. Best wishes to our guys on a safe and exciting game.
 
**City guys in the NFL performed in some exciting games this past week with Baltimore Ravens LB Jameel McClain (Washington-Syracuse) recorded 3 tackles and a tackle for loss in a 23-20 loss @Chicago. Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Northeast-Shippensburg) recorded 5 tackles, 1 interception and 2 passes defended including Hail Mary to end the game as Dolphins defeated San Diego. New Orleans Saints OG Jahri Evans (Frankford-Bloomsburg) helped keep Drew Brees upright and clean all night as the Saints escaped with a 23-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

  Division IA Newcomer/Rookie of the Week:WVU CB Daryl Worley (Penn Charter) recorded 3 tackles and a PD in a 47-40 OT loss to Texas.
 
  Division IA Offensive Player of the Week: Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage (O'Hara) helped lead his team to a 27-23 upset of #23 Notre Dame by passing 22/35 for 243 yards and 2 TDs.
 
  Division IA Defensive Player of the Week: Penn State DE Deion Barnes (Northeast) tied his season high of 4 tackles and a half sack in a 24-10 setback at Minnesota.
 
  Division IAA Newcomer/Rookie of the Week: Harvard LB Eric Medes (SJP) recorded 7 tackles and batted away a pass in a 34-0 shutout of Ivy league rival Columbia.
 
  Division IAA Offensive Player of the Week: NONE
 
  Division IAA Defensive Player of the Week: Sacred Heart DB Dennis Regan (Roman) recorded 2 tackles, and notched a key Interception as well as batted away 2 other passes in a key 10-0 shutout win over Duquesne.
 
  Division II Newcomer/Rookie of the Week: Bloomsburg TE Aaron Allison (Frankford) recorded 2 key receptions for 35 yards in Bloomsburg's 31-28 upset at West Chester, sending them to the PSAC championship game this weekend.
 
  Division II Offensive Player of the Week: Shippensburg WR Quran Kent (West Catholic) recorded 6 receptions for 60 yards (career high) in a 42-0 shutout win over Cheyney, helping Ship claim a co-PSAC East title with Bloomsburg & West Chester.
 
  Division II Defensive Player of the Week: West Chester DB Blaise Schieler (West Catholic) recorded 9 tackles in WCU's loss to Bloomsburg 31-28.
 
  Division III Newcomer/Rookie of the Week: NONE
 
  Division III Offensive Player of the Week: Susquehanna RB Tim Wade ran 29 times for a career high 166 yards and 3 TDs as well as caught 3 passes for 44 yards in a 43-42 loss to McDaniel.
 
  Division III Defensive Player of the Week: #8 John Hopkins SS John Arena (SJP) recorded 5 tackles & returned an interception 54 yards for his first collegiate TD in a 45-30 win over Franklin & Marshall
 
Tidbits/Notes:
 
  **Congrats to John Hopkins & Ithaca, both of which clinched berths in the D3 football playoffs by winning their respective conferences. The MAC representative will be decided this weekend with either Lebannon Valley, Lycoming or Widener gaining the automatic bid for the conference. Barring an upset this Saturday Wesley College will also be dancing in the D3 playoffs. Best wishes to the city guys representing these schools.
 
  **Congrats to Bloomsburg and its city guy representatives who upset #9 West Chester on the road to gain an berth in the PSAC State Title game for the automatic conference NCAA playoff berth.
 
  **Keep an keen eye out for the Florida v South Carolina game as Gator R-Freshman QB Skyler Mornhinweg may be making his first career start under center with their starting QB nursing an shoulder injury.
 
  **Central Connecticut State RB Rob Hollomon rushed for 131 yards in a 54-21 loss to Robert Morris. With those yards he moved up to 3rd all-time in school rushing yards for a career. He also scored a TD (19th of the season) which moves him just 2 away from breaking the school single season record.
 
  **Delaware Valley College WR Rasheed Bailey (Roxborough) leads the team with 42 catches for 811 yards and six touchdowns. The last 3 weeks he has recorded 14 receptions for 247 yards and 3 TDs.

  Division IA Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: NONE
 
  Division IA Offensive Player of the Week: Boston College OL Seth Betancourt (SJ Prep) helped anchor an OL that allowed no sacks in the process of upsetting Virginia Tech 34-27.
 
  Division IA Defensive Player of the Week: Northwestern DB Ibraheim Campbell (SCHA) notched 10 tackles in a 27-24 heartbreaking loss at Nebraska.
 
  Division IAA Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Rhode Island RB Eerin Young (Imhotep) posted another career high 60 yards rushing while adding 42 yards on 2 Kick returns as Rhode Island fell to Old Dominion 66-14
 
  Division IAA Offensive Player of the Week: Central Connecticut State RB Rob Hollomon (West Catholic) ran 24 times for 147 yards and 4 TD's while adding 4 receptions for 40 yards and a Kick Return for another 27 yards in a 52-17 win over Wagner.
 
  Division IAA Defensive Player of the Week:  Monmouth DL Pat O'Hara (Lansdale) recorded 6 tackles, 1/2 tackle for loss, 1 Pass break up and 1 QB hurry in a 24-21 loss to Sacred Heart.
 
  Division II Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Kutztown CB Daryl Mintz (Roman) recorded 5 tackles and 1 Pass Broken Up in a 45-9 romp over Millersville.

  Division III Offensive Player of the Week: Ursinus WR Jerry Rahill (Wood) recorded 8 receptions for an amazing 202 yards and 2 TDs in a 24-18 defeat to John Hopkins.
 
  Division III Defensive Player of the Week: John Hopkins DL Joe DiTrolio (Malvern) recorded 8 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and a half sack in a 24-18 win over Ursinus
 
Notes for the week:
 
  **Congrats to Shippensburg University on their upset of #5 Bloomsburg 34-18 last Thursday night on national television. City guys who made contributions for Ship were WR Quran Kent (West Catholic) who had 3 receptions for 30 yards and LB Steve Owens (Judge) who played key role on kick return and punt teams. Bloomsburg city guys who made an impact in the game were DT Chris Kennedy (Carroll) who notched 2 tackles and a sack, and DB's Donovan Morris (Washington) & Gary Postell (McDevitt) who combined for 7 tackles.

Bloomsburg OL Ryan Geiger (La Salle) as he led the way for 2 of their RB’s to rush for over 100 yards in under 30 carries. Also kept the QB clean with no sacks. West Chester OT Adam Citko (Wood) helped WCU defeat Ship at the buzzer as they gained 437 yards of total offense.

  Division III Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Lycoming DL (True-Freshman) Tyler Smith (Judge) registered 3 tackles and a key sack in helping Lycoming edge Albright 20-17 in MAC league play.

  **This week’s game of the week pits PSAC rivals Bloomsburg v Shippensburg on CBS Sports Network airing nationally around the country Halloween night at 8pm. Ship has 3 city guys on the roster with 2 receiving ample playing time and the other is injured taking a redshirt. Bloomsburg has 11 guys on their roster from the city leagues. They have 4 guys who start and 4 others who receive regular PT. The others are redshirting. Best wishes guys on a fun and safe game. I’m partial since Ship is my Alma Mata hahahaha.

  **In Division II the playoff teams are selected by Super Regional Rankings. The schools in PA/NJ/MD/NY are all in Super Region 1 with the top 6 teams making the field of 24. The first SR1 rankings have #1 West Chester (27 city guys), followed by Bloomsburg #3 and Slippery Rock #5.

  **Congrats to John Hopkins SS John Arena (SJ Prep) who is tied for 3 rd on the #10 ranked team in the nation in tackles (28), and sacks (4) while being selected to the 2013 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Class which carries an $18,000 prize to be used for graduate school. Great job on and off the field John. Off the field John carries a impressive 4.0 GPA & will graduate in December with a degree in Neuroscience.

Against Holy Cross all he did was turn 23 carries into 145 yards for 2 TDs as well as 1 reception for 11 yards and 3 KO returns for 76 yards for a total of 232 all purpose yards in a 52-21 loss to Holy Cross
 
  Division IAA Defensive Player of the Week: Rhode Island's DE Shomari Watts (Haverford) registered 2 tackles and recovered a key fumble, preserving their first win of the season over Albany 19-16 in CAA play.
 
  Division II Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Bloomsburg OL Ryan Geiger (La Salle) helped Bloom gain 526 yards of total offense in his 2nd career start.
 
  Division II Offensive Player of the Week: West Chester WR Eric Brundidge (Northeast) recorded 7 receptions for 71 yds and 3 TDs in a 56-41 win over Gannon
 
  Division II Defensive Player of the Week: Kutztown CB/S English Peay (Washington) came up with 10 tackles and 2 PBU's in a 45-10 set back to #24 Cal (Pa).
 
  Division III Rookie/Newcomer of the Week: Ursinus DB Greg Disanto (Judge) notched 2 tackles, including 1 tackle for a loss, and his first career interception in a huge 41-23 win over conference foe Gettysburg
 
  Division III Offensive Player of the Week: Delaware Valley College WR Rasheed Bailey (Roxborough) recorded 3 receptions for 69 yards and 1 TD in 42-17 win over Misercordia in MAC play.

  Division III Defensive Player(s) of the Week: My first tie of the year goes to LB's Keith Corliss (John Hopkins/Germantown Academy) & Jim DiLiso (Delaware Valley/Judge). Corliss had 7 tackles including a 1/2 tackle for loss and 1 PBU in a 24-7 win over Centennial conference foe Susquehanna. DiLiso recorded a whopping 15 tackles in Delaware Valleys conference win over Misercordia.
 
Tidbits for the week:
 
  *Ohio State's Senior WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) has recorded 3 receiving TD's this year, which matches the number he had last year during an outstanding and breakout Junior year.
 
  *Rhode Island true freshman RB Eerin Young (Imhotep) made his collegiate debut in their win over Albany via special teams. May soon start getting carries out the backfield as Rhody gets into the meat of their conference schedule.
 
   *Shippensburg WR Quran Kent (West Catholic) has made an immediate impact in his 1st year with the program as a JC transfer. In 2 games he has 2 starts and 8 receptions for 80 yards
 
   *Temple PK Nick Visco (Wood), who joined the program as a preferred walk-on, is making an impact as a true freshman, kicking 2 successful extra points against Fordham and recently being named the starting PK for the near future.

  D2 Rookie of the Week: West Chester University CB Blaise Schieler (W. Catholic) in first career game and starter notched 7 tackles & 1 PBU in 45-14 win over #12 New Haven University
  D2 Offensive Player of the Week: West Chester QB Sean McCartney (Wood) 20-26 290 yards & 3 TDs along with 6 rushes & 27 yards in 45-14 win over #12 New Haven University
  D2 Defensive Player of the Week: East Stroudsburg University CB Teron Dobbs (Carroll) intercepted 2 passes, recorded 2PBU's including 1 TD pass and a 10 yard sack in 21-14 win over NE-10 preseason favorite AIC.
  D3 Rookie of the Week: Ursinus DB Kyle Adkins (Wood) played in 3 games last year on ST. As sophomore 1st year starter he recorded 4 tackles, 1 Int returned for 36 yards for a TD & 1 PBU in 28-20 win over TCNJ. (Update: named the Centennial Defensive Player of the Week.)
  D3 Offensive Player of the Week: Delaware Valley College QB Aaron Wilmer (Washington) went 19-30 for 260 yards & 3Tds, along with 15 rushes 44 yds & 1 TD, and had a reception for 38 yards in 35-27 comeback win over Rowan University
  D3 Defensive Player of the Week: Albright College LB Sean Cunningham (Wood) 7 tackles, 0.5 sack and 1 pass defended in 30-14 win over Kean University
Tidbits for Week Two:
  *The Penn State v EMU game featured former Northeast High teammates David Pulliam (Freshman S for EMU) up against Deion Barnes (Soph DE for PSU).
  *Delaware Valley Junior WR Rasheed Bailey (Roxborough) had a huge day offensively in helping DVC come back against Rowan as he posted career high of 7 receptions for 138 yards and 1TD. While his fellow teammate & also alumni of Roxborough LB Bernard Avery posted 11 tackles on defense for DVC.
  *Bethune Cookman Junior OG Andrew Edouard (Overbrook) made his first D1 start in 65-7 romp over Virginia Union helping BCU gain 464 yards of total offense. He played his first 2 years of college football at JUCO Lackawanna College before earning a full-ride scholarship to BCU. Awesome job keep it up Drew.
  *Kansas CB Brandon Hollomon (West Catholic) recorded 3 tackles in his D1 debut as a true sophomore. He played last season at LA Pierce College
  *In this week's opening games in the NFL 5 guys were on active rosters who were at some point on this list all but McClain (PUP list), Watford (inactive) & Nassib (inactive) played this week. Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Northeast-Shippensburg), New Orleans Saints OG Jahri Evans (Frankford-Bloomsburg), Arizona Cardinal OG Earl Watford (Gratz-James Madison), San Francisco 49ers LB Nick Moody (Roman-Florida State), Minnesota Vikings DT Sharrif Floyd (Washington-Florida), Jameel McClain (Washington-Syracuse) & Anthony Walters (O'Hara-Delaware) Floyd and Grimes are starters while Moody a rookie 6th round pick has earned starting ST duties as well as Walters.   D1AA Offensive Player of the Week: WR/RB/KR Jamal Abdur-Rahman (La Salle) 5 rushes 57 yds 1 TD, 4 receptions 41 yds 1 TD and 1 KO for 19 yards in 24-14 loss to D1A Boston College.
  D1AA Defensive Player of the Week: DL Lawrence Williams (Washington) 2 tackles, 1 PBU & 1 QB Hurry in 28-21 Comeback win over Georgetown
**Tidbits For Week 1**
  Eastern Michigan DB David Pulliam (Northeast), UMass WR Shakur NeSmith (Imhotep), Robert Morris LB TJ Waters (West Catholic), Notre Dame WR William Fuller (West Catholic) and West Virginia University DB Daryl Worley (Penn Charter) all received PT as true freshmen in opening week action. Congrats, guys.
  Penn State DE Carl Nassib (Malvern) was a walk-on back in 2010 and has slowly worked his way up the depth chart. For those efforts Coach O'Brien awarded him a scholarship this season as a redshirt sophomore and Carl notched 2 tackles including 1 TFL this past weekend against Syracuse in his first career action.
  UMass WR Shakur NeSmith (Imhotep) not only received PT but also earned a starting role for UMass against 21st ranked Wisconsin in a 45-0 loss. He recorded 2 receptions for 14 yards.
