AWARDS & ALL-STAR TEAMS . . .
The season is now complete for all our Philly guys
have completed playoff and bowl games. So I'd like to personally thank all
those who have sent me encouraging emails about the weekly list. With so
many of our guys participating in not only D1 but D2 and D3 football its
hard to give everyone Player of the Week when so many guys are having great
games week in and week out. It's been my pleasure going through box scores,
news clippings, and school websites following all of our local guys. With
that being said here are my end of the year awards..
Overall MVP:
Arizona State Junior WR Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) posted 82 receptions
for 1165 yards & 10 TDs while guiding Arizona State to a 10-3 record. In
addition to being named to the 1st team All Pac 12 he has also been named a
2nd team all American via Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, Sporting News and
ESPN.com while being named a Biletnikoff semifinalist.
Rookie of the Year:
IUP Freshman WR/RS Walter Pegues in his first collegiate season earned 1st
Team All PSAC West Honors as a Return Specialist by posting a 19.4 yard per
return average on 11 punts including a 96 yard punt return for a TD and 24.6
yards per return on kick off returns. He also led the team in total all
purpose yards tallying 607 receiving (4 tds), 590 on kickoff returns, 213 on
punt returns (1 TD) and 56 on rushes.
Offensive Player of the Year:
Delaware Valley College Senior WR Rasheed Bailey (Roxborough) who finished
his collegiate career in grand style catching 80 passes for 1707 yards and
19 TDs helping the Aggies earn a home playoff NCAA game and finish the
season at 9-2.
Defensive Player of the Year:
Kutztown Senior DB English "Buddy" Peay (Washington) completed his
collegiate career by posting 61 tackles, 16 passes broken up & 1
interception. He finished his career at Kutztown as the all time leader in
passes defended/broken up with 52 and just 7 shy of the PSAC record held by
former Northeast/Shippensburg star Brent Grimes who currently starts and
stars for the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

Congrats to the 2 underclassmen Deion Barnes and

conclusion of spring ball along with some info on our pro hopefuls who are
currently in training for all star games, combines and pro-days.... As

yards and 3 TDs in the Rams 36-51 defeat

yards and broke up a pass in Bloom's
35-14 win over Virginia State to advance

II Harlon Hill Trophy (D2's equivalent

**In local playoff action
Widener continued their great undefeated
season thus far and advanced to the D3
quarterfinals with a 37-27 win over
Christopher Newport and moves ahead to
face Linfield. Also John Hopkins lost in
heartbreaking fashion 21-24 to Hobart
ending their season at a remarkable
11-1.
**In D2 playoff action,
West Chester battled #1 Concord but fell
short 36-51 finishing the season
11-2. Meanwhile Bloomsburg knocked
off #23 Virginia State 35-14 to improve
to 11-1 and will travel to Concord this
Saturday with a D2 semi-final spot on
the line.
**For only the 3rd time
in history there could be 3 PA D1A
programs all going bowling at the same
time. Pittsburgh is already bowl
eligible as well as Penn State. With a
win Saturday in New Orleans vs Tulane,
Temple would become the 3rd bowl
eligible team from our state. Go

**Syracuse True Freshman LB Zaire Franklin
(LaSalle) registered a career high 10 tackles in
his 2nd career start at MLB in a 7-27 loss to
Pittsburgh.
**Congrats to Coastal Carolina Sophomore WR
Bruce Mapp (West Catholic) who earned 2nd Team
All Big South Honors after posting 60 receptions
for 819 yards and 4 TDs in 11 regular season
contests. The Chancillers qualified for the 1AA
playoffs and earned a 1st round bye.
**Congrats to Harvard Jr. LB Eric Medes (SJ
Prep) who earned 2nd team all Ivy League honors
after finishing 2nd on the team with 61 tackles,
a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 4 passes
broken up. Harvard won their 16th Ivy League
title and finished the season 10-0.
**Lafayette Junior DB Matt Smalley (Judge) was
named to the 1st team All Patriot League team
after posting 61 tackles, 1 Interception and 11
Passes Broken up for the Leopards.
**Over 48000 fans packed Yankee Stadium to
witness the 150th annual meeting between Lehigh
& Lafayette last weekend. Lafayette would go on
to win the game 27-7.
**Central Connecticut State Senior RB Rob
Hollomon leaves CCSU as the all-time leading
rusher in only 3 years (played at Kent State for
a year). He leaves with 725 carries for 3672
yards and 30 TDs on the ground. He also was a
dangerous receiver nabbing 82 balls for 773
yards and 2 TDs. As a returner he took back 1 KR
for a TD while gaining 1376 in KR/PR yardage.
**Game of the week involves a pair of west coast
teams featuring hot players on both sides of the
ball as #13 Arizona State (WR Jaelen Strong:
West Catholic) battles #12 University of Arizona
(Will Parks: Germantown) in a key PAC 12 South
matchup as both teams are 9-2 at the current
moment. The game will be televised nationally on
Fox Friday at 3:30pm EST.
**In D2 football West Chester advanced to the
2nd round of the NCAA II Playoffs and travels
south to West Virginia to play Concord. While
Bloomsburg stays home to host Virginia State
University.
**In D3 football John Hopkins is in the 2nd
round of the DIII playoffs for the 4th time in
school history and travels to NY to take on
Hobart. Widener via their win last weekend over
Muhlenberg will stay home to battle Christopher
Newport who coincidently ended local Delaware
Valley College season this past Saturday in
Doylestown.
**In the Midwest Northwestern & SCHA product
Senior S Ibraheim Campbell finish their season
at home vs Illinois & Bok product Junior
DE Jihad Ward. The winner will become bowl
eligible while the loser season will be over as
both squads sit at 5-6 overall.

**In a very heated but
respected rivalry game Lehigh takes on
neighboring Lafayette in the 150th
annual game. This year's game has been
moved to Yankee Field in New York and a
crowd of over 40k is expected.
**Another local rivalry
game also takes place this weekend with
University of Delaware taking on
Villanova on the Mainline.
**Congrats to Widener on
their perfect regular season (10-0) and
capturing the MAC title. They will host
Muhlenberg this upcoming Saturday in the
opening round of the Division III
playoffs.
**Also congrats to
Delaware Valley College who earned an
at-large bid out of the MAC and will
host Christopher Newport this Saturday
to open the Division III playoffs.
**John Hopkins completed
their second consecutive perfect regular
season finishing at 10-0 and earned a
1st round home Division III playoff game
this Saturday against Rowan.
**Major congrats to the 3
PSAC schools who are represented by our
guys who qualified for the NCAA D2
Playoffs (Bloomsburg, West Chester,
Slippery Rock). Bloomsburg earned the #2
seed in Super Region 1 which gives them
a bye this weekend. Slippery Rock will
travel east to West Chester for a noon

**Congrats to both
Delaware Valley College & Widener who
both enter this Saturday's showdown in
Chester undefeated in MAC play and
overall as well. The winner of the
Keystone Cup will not only finish the
regular season undefeated with the cup
but will gain the conference's automatic
bid to the NCAA playoffs securing at
least 1 home game more than likely for
the first round. I will be in attendance
to hopefully get a few photos of all our
Philly guys on DVC as well as Widener...
**Speaking of Delaware
Valley College, Senior QB Aaron Wilmer
is inching along to becoming the 25th
college football player (in all
divisions) to accumulate at least 10,000
yards passing, 1,000 yards rushing as he
currently stands at 9,624 yards passing
with at least 2 games left in his
collegiate career.
**In a nationally
televised game our city guys from Notre
Dame Will Fuller (Roman) and Arizona
State Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) put
on a great performance with both guys
catching TD passes in ASU's win over
Notre Dame.

Defense wins championships and with last
weekend's 33-14 win at Franklin &
Marshall in which Keith recorded his
second most tackles in a game (11) JHU
has clinched the Centennial Conference
title and the conference automatic bid
to the NCAA playoffs. Also major props
to Keith on being named to the Capital
One Academic All-District Team as he
currently owns a 3.5 GPA while majoring
in economics. Great job on and off the

GPA while majoring in business.
**This Sunday the
brackets for the NCAA Division II &
Division III playoffs will be revealed
and at least 2 teams from the Division

well as many as 3 teams from the

State. Two of the nation's top WR's
ASU's Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) and
ND's Will Fuller (Roman) square off with
both teams in strong contention to land
one of the 4 playoff coveted spots.
**Congrats to our 13 guys
at Bloomsburg who clinched the PSAC East
title with their 34-13 win over East
Stroudsburg. Next Saturday they'll head
out west for the PSAC title with a top 2
NCAA playoff seed on the line against
either Cal (Pa), Slippery Rock or
Gannon.
**Norfolk State Junior QB
Malik Stokes (Northeast) came onto the
field in relief and threw a game winning
TD pass helping NSU keep pace for 1st
place in the MEAC with an NCAA playoff
berth at stake for the conference
champion. They play Thursday night at
7pm on national television ESPNU hosting
Bethune Cookman with the winner
remaining in first place heading into
the final 2 weeks of the season.

Senior WR Rasheed Bailey caught his
school record tying 12th TD pass against
Stevenson. In the process he also moved
into 2nd place all-time on the single
season receiving yardage record and is
