Tom Sessa . . . The Best Kind of Save |
|
Tom Sessa, a senior baseball player at West
Catholic HS, was honored April 30 by Upper Darby Township for his
actions on April 22. Sessa, a volunteer firefighter with the township, responded to a medic call (heart attack) and was told that the medics were cross town and that he would be first on the scene. Upon arrival, Sessa was approached by a cardiologist and told that the patient was not breathing and that he was going to pronounce him. Sessa stated that he had the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and wanted to try to revive him. After the first shock, the patient became responsive. Upper Darby Twp. presented Sessa with the Mayor's Award, and he also was presented with the Award of Excellence. Congrats to Tom!! (Note: Tom's brother, Kevin, also plays for West. Their cousin, Joe Sessa, plays for O'Hara.) |
