Huck's Weekend Forecast Return to TedSilary.com Home Page In this space every Thursday, I am predicting
final scores for every game involving city-leagues teams. The picks are divided into three sections -- 1.) Huck's
Gems. 2.) Best of the Rest. 3.) Others. |
| MISSION STATEMENT My primary focus here is not to just make predictions, but to have high school football fans get a look at some of the more interesting and compelling games going around on the city for that weekend. Huck's Gems won't always pit the best teams versus one another. On many occasions, teams may not be as talented as some of the upper echelon teams, but nonetheless go out and produce some of the more enjoyable moments of the football season. For example, a Huck's Gem might include teams or team that feature a neighborhood rivalry, a dynamic offense, a bone-crunching defense, or a team who has an individual player who can create magic whenever he touches the ball. Please don't take exception if I happen to pick against your team one weekend. Remember this is all in fun. However, feedback is always welcomed. ---- Thank you, Ed "Huck" Palmer Teddycat10@aol.com |

NOTES:
It’s official!!! I stink at picking Pub games. Especially Pub vs. Pub games
involving middle-of-the-road or lower-level teams. There are always close and I
always have the wrong side. The most frustrating part of it all is picking the
team that easily outgains its opponent, but loses where it counts the most. How
does a team throw for over 200 yards against a decent Glen Mills squad, and then
go 1-for-17, for minus-2 yards the next week? How does a team win a game and
score 20 points, but only produce a mere 60 yards in total offense? Oh, that’s
right; they get a gift touchdown after a negative punt! No sense in trying to
understand all of this, it is what it is. It’s the Pub!!! It’s where crazy stuff
happens! And I wonder why Mr. Loopy thrives in picking these games???

dates, and locations of the games. You will be able to find this information

NOTES: OK, quick observation, but are we
common folk suppose to believe that there is no correlation between Puck's
summer league teams going a combined 4-15, and your being the coach? Hmmm, just
a little food for thought!............ What can I say about my recent troubles
in the forecasting department? Actually, a lot! I am extremely disheartened that
I have been overwhelmed by the Pucklehead for three consecutive years. To say I
am befuddled would be putting it mildly. Over the last century, there have been
many sports-related dynasties, from the Yankees in baseball, to the Celtics in
hoops. Let’s not forget about the Canadiens on the frozen pond, and more
recently, the New England Patriots on the gridiron. Now, we have new form of
dynasty. One that comes with terms not typically associated with the modern day
meaning of the word. Terms like; unstable, ill-equipped, inferior, and
substandard to name a few. So, I pose a question to our readers. Has the
Puckster entered the dynasty realm? OK, OK, OK, let’s not get ahead of
ourselves, for I know the answer to that. Just the other day on Who Wants to
be a Millionaire, the question was asked for $100. Which of the following is
NOT considered a dynasty? A.) Jin B.) Ming C.) House of Saud D.) Man Called
McKenna. All right, so he may not be dynasty material just yet, but he’s
certainly headed in that direction. So, I have no other choice but to commend
him for his efforts. Congratulations, Thomas!!! However, in hopes to regain my
title, I see myself relying on tactics that are illegal in 14 states when
dealing with people of Puck’s capacity – Mental Warfare!!! Like taking candy
from a baby! If need be, I’ll dive into the depths of darkness to throw the man
off his game. He’s left me no other choice, for he’s been cheating (Ha Ha ha)
for three years. What other explanation is there? Happy picking, Puckster!!!!!
