Catholic League
    Carroll 6, Kennedy-Kenrick 4: John Zamicieli pitched two-hit ball over the last 4.2 innings and Mike Costanzo went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, triple and two RBI. Marty Higgins and John Gardner both had two hits, one RBI.
    Judge 8, McDevitt 5: Kevin Barry got the win. Matt Carrelli had two hits and scored three runs.
    Ryan 7, Wood 3: Jerry Lukach fanned six in four innings. Bob Snyder (triple) and Pat Keegan (double) had hits worth two RBI in a five-run third.
    La Salle 8, North 0: Greg Schaible had a two-run triple.

MAY 24
Catholic League
    Bonner 8, West 6 (8 inn.): Nick Condo capped a 4-for-5 day with an RBI single in the visiting eighth. Paul Kollhoff went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI. Reliever Bobby Ward got the win. West overcame a 5-0 deficit and twice got within one strike of victory in the seventh.
    Roman 11, SJ Prep 7: Pat Trunfio got the win. John Spada went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Trunfio went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Phil Terry had a two-run single in a five-run fifth.
   O’Hara 4, Neumann 2: Kenny Grant allowed five hits, fanned nine and went 2-for-3 while scoring twice. Brian Campbell’s two-run single broke a 2-2 tie in the home sixth.
   La Salle 3, Judge 1: Tom Mattern pitched a three-hitter as La Salle clinched first. Mike Manzi (single) and Rob Sullivan (walk) had RBI.
    Ryan 6, Conwell-Egan 3: Lou DeTitto fanned 10 in a six-inning six-hitter and went 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Tom Dolan had a two-run double. C-E’s Gary Stricker had an RBI triple. The Eagles nevertheless made the playoffs as McDevitt lost.
   Dougherty 7, McDevitt 2: Sean McGovern pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts. Matt Hoffman went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Mickey King went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Catholic League
    O’Hara 4, Carroll 2: Ted Rydesky went six innings for the win and hit a solo homer. Kenny Grant got the save and slammed a three-run homer. Carroll received solo homers from Ted Piotrowicz and John Zamichieli.
   Dougherty 5, Conwell-Egan 3: Leo Hofmann got the win. James Stitt and Mickey King had RBI singles in a four-run home sixth.
    Bonner 3, Kennedy-Kenrick 2: Kevin Horning went the distance. With two outs in the home third, Ryan McMahon (RBI single) and Tim D’Orazio (two-run double) brought in runs. K-K’s Matt Johnson fanned nine in a five-hitter.
    Neumann 4, Roman 3 (8 inn.): Tony Meccariello allowed four hits and fanned eight in going the distance. Matt Micale forced extras with an RBI single in the home seventh. Bill Loskiewictz won it with an RBI single in the eighth. Pasquale “Pat” Narducci went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Roman soph Matt Daley went the distance.

    The other three games were postponed.

MAY 18
    Malvern 11, Chestnut Hill 3:
Joe Milani went 4-for-5 with two RBI and Kevin Waddy stroked three doubles as the Friars won the title behind Ross Barna.
   Penn Charter 10, Hav. School: Aaron Greenfield went 2-for-3 with a homer and six RBI. Winner Taylor Baum had a homer and two RBI. HS’ Paul Onofrio homered.
    Episcopal 5, Gtn. Academy 4: Mike McGillian pitched a two-hitter and went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tucker Heckscher had a triple, two RBI.

MAY 17
Catholic League
   SJ Prep 11, Bonner 6: The Prep was powered by John Kirchner (4-for-4, homer, three RBI), Eric Smith (2-for-4, homer, four RBI) and Brandon “Piece” Blake (three-run homer). Matt Altomare got the win. Bonner’s Ryan McMahon homered.
   Neumann 9, Carroll 7: Winner Bill Loskiewictz and Fred Burke hit two-run homers. Chris Renzi added a grand slam. Ted Piotrowicz and Mike Costanzo homered for Carroll.
    McDevitt 4, La Salle 2: Luke Erb got the win and Doug Garrett had two RBI. La Salle’s John Reifsnyder had a two-run homer.
   Roman 5, West 4: Pat Trunfio pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Matt Krimm (double) and Todd Kiefski (single) had RBI hits in a two-run visiting seventh.
   Kennedy-Kenrick 5, O’Hara 4: Matt Johnson won in relief on the strength of a three-run home seventh. He had a two-run single and Brett Heselpoth added an RBI single.
    Ryan 9, North 6: Lou DeTitto fanned 12 in six innings. Kevin “Cheese” Hamburg went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI. Andy MacDonald had two hits, two RBI.
    Judge 5, Dougherty 3: John Keller got the win. Anthony Cione, Jim Hasher and Matt Evanitsky had two hits apiece.
    Conwell-Egan 9, Wood 6: Phil Brazil went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI to make Todd Puzycki a winner.

    Malvern 6, Penn Charter 4:
Pat Clary had a three-run homer to make Derek Duclos a winner. James Freeman got the save. Matt Skellan had a pair of RBI singles.
    Gtn. Academy 1, Haverford School 0: David Montague pitched a five-hitter. In the sixth, a single by frosh Alex Kaplan scored frosh Sean Grieve.
Catholic League
    Ryan 2, Judge 1: Jerry Lukach allowed two hits and struck out seven. Lou DeTitto’s RBI single scored Jerry Rogers in the home seventh.
   Roman 8, Kennedy-Kenrick 7: K-K scored three in the visiting seventh and Roman countered with two; Joe McCourt drove in the winning run. Pete Doyle won in relief. Anthony Dabrowski had a two-run homer and Anthony Capella went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
   O’Hara 14, West 2: Mark Barrar (grand slam) and B.J. “Butch” Hogan (three-run) hit homers to make Mike Lomas a winner.
    Carroll 8, SJ Prep 4 (9 inn.): Mick Hannan had the decisive RBI to make reliever Matt Kirsch a winner. Mike Costanzo had a solo homer in the first inning.
   McDevitt 2, Wood 1 (8 inn.): Bob Mitros allowed six hits and Doug Garrett had the game-winning RBI in the home eighth. Tom Bennett went 3-for-3. Wood’s Dan Mueller fanned 12 in 7.1 innings and went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
    Neumann 14, Bonner 12: Jimmy Porreca’s three-run homer capped a six-run home seventh and made reliever Rob Zeoli a winner.
    North 8, Dougherty 4: Dan Szychulski allowed seven hits and had two RBI. Dennis Holmes and Chris Gillen also had two RBI.
    La Salle 10, Con.-Egan 2: Mike Manzi went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI. Winner John Reifsnyder doubled twice.

MAY 14
Public League
    Washington 10, GAMP 9 (11 inn.): This was the completion of game suspended after 10 innings April 23. Ivan Kosty hit a two-run homer in the visiting 11th to make Joe Sannutti a winner.
Catholic League

    McDevitt 8, Conwell-Egan 1:
Dave Melcher pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts. Doug Garrett hit a grand slam and Dave Parkes doubled twice.

   Conwell-Egan 6, West Catholic 0: Jim Coon had two singles and two RBI, and Phil Brazil chipped in with a single, double and two runs scored in support of pitcher Todd Puzycki's three-hitter.
Inter-Ac League
   Malvern 5, Gtn. Academy 3: Malvern scored all five runs in the sixth, aided by Pat Clary's two-run single and Mike Illgas' RBI single. Ross Barna lost a no-hitter with one out in the seventh and James Freeman got the save.
   Penn Charter 7, Chestnut Hill 0: Taylor Baum hit a home run and also pitched a three-hitter. Gerry Sasse had two hits and two RBI.
    Episcopal 7, Haverford School 0: Mike McGillian tossed a four-hit shutout and also hit a three-run homer in a five-run third inning. Adam Murray poked three hits and scored twice.

MAY 10
Catholic League
    La Salle 10, Roman 6: Mike Manzi went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI to make Tom Mattern a winner. Kyle Elliott went 3-for-4 with two RBI. For Roman, Joe McCourt went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Anthony Dabrowski doubled and tripled.
   Ryan 10, Bonner 2: Lou DeTitto fanned eight in six innings and went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Doug D’Aulerio went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
    O’Hara 11, Wood 7: Ted Rydesky endured an 11-hitter and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. B.J. “Butch” Hogan went 4-for-4 and scored four runs.
   Judge 4, SJ Prep 3: John Boritz pitched shutout ball over for 3.1 innings and was bailed out by John Keller, who got two strikeouts with the bases loaded in the seventh. The winning run was driven in by Mike Gimpel (sacrifice fly).
    Neumann 15, North 3: Bill Loskiewictz fanned nine in five innings and went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Nick Zungolo went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Jarrett Troccoli added two RBI.
   Dougherty 5, Carroll 4: Leo Hofmann fanned 10 and scored the decisive run in the fourth on a double by Ed “The Terminator” Hilbert. Mickey King, Eliezer Garcia and Hilbert had matching stats: 2-for-3 with an RBI.
   Kennedy-Kenrick 4, McDevitt 3: Brett Heselpoth got the win.

    West/Con.-Egan: Moved to May 11.

    Mastbaum 13, Overbrook 9: Jason Gonzalez fanned 14 and went 2-for-4 with a triple. Mike mcArdle went 2-for-4 with a double.
   Northeast 11, Edison 9: Steve Josephson had a pair of two-run homers and Ari Bluestein hit a solo dinger.
    Bok 12, Saul 10: Maurice Hunter got the win and homered. Shawn Jeter went 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBI. Andy Godlewski homered twice for Saul.
    Central 6, Bartram 3: Keith Cohen hit a three-run homer with one out in the home seventh to make John Hickey a winner.
    Eng. and Science 11, Fels 1: Chris Daly allowed six hits and Dave Parfitt went 4-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI.
   GAMP 14, Lincoln 11: Andrew Scafetta went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI. Lincoln received homers from pinch-hitter Mike Rodriguez (two-run) and Ron Clarkson (solo).
   Roxborough 1, Olney 0: Forfeit. Olney did not have enough players. Some were serving suspensions for violating team rules.

Public League
   Lamberton 12, Franklin 2: Vince Solomon went 3-for-3, executed a suicide squeeze and played great defense in centerfield. Kyle Shuebrook went just three innings and fanned six.
   Bok 2, Mastbaum 1 (8 inn.): Mike Sacco, pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and Maurice Hunter scored on an error in the visiting eighth. Mastbaum's Johnny Marrero allowed three hits and fanned 16.
   Washington 18, Frankford 8: The Eagles posted 10 in the third and six more in the fourth. Joe Sannutti went 3-for-3 with a double, grand slam, five RBI and four runs scored. Winner Andrew Farrell pitched the last three innings in the five-inning game.
   Franklin LC 22, Univ. City 4

Dan Waters pitched a two-hitter. Chris Jeffers’ RBI triple was the big hit.
    Kennedy-Kenrick 6, Neumann 2: Joe Zazworskey fanned eight and Chris Lubanski had two hits, two RBI.
    Bonner 5, Roman 4: Mike Kitzinger and Jason Smith slugged two-run homers and Marc Kuchler got the last out to save Randy Milia’s win after Roman scored four in the visiting seventh. Roman’s Pat Trunfio homered.
    Con.-Egan 8, North 5: Kyle Lorenz had a two-run single in a six-run third. Gary Stricker went five innings for the win.
    Judge 3, Wood 1: Paul Koenig fanned eight in a four-hitter and had a two-run double. Jim Hasher had an RBI triple.
    Ryan 6, McDevitt 5: Tom Dolan’s groundout RBI in the home sixth gave the win to reliever Nick D’Aulerio.
    Carroll 25, West 3: The Patriots scored nine in the second and eight in the fourth. Mick Hannan, Frank Gailey, Anthony Altomare, John Zamichieli and Matt Harrow homered for Carroll. Greg Scannapieco homered for West.
    O’Hara 3, SJ Prep 0: Kenny Grant struck out 10 in a five-hitter and Mike Essery went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Ryan Barksdale went 3-for-3 and scored a run.

Ray Monk fanned seven in five innings.
    King 8, Franklin LC 4: Chris Thompson got the win and Dennis Goslee had a two-run triple in a four-run visiting seventh.

David Montague pitched a four-hitter and Ivan Alber had an RBI double.

   Mansion 7, Dobbins 2: Bruce Fife, a senior righthander, struck out 13 in his second no-hitter of the season. Rodney Rhodes had a two-run double.
   Franklin 7, Southern 6: Patrick Sandlin slugged a solo homer in the home sixth to win it for Steve Myers. Mike Masci homered twice for Southern.
   Kensington 13, Gratz 3: Jim Slavin struck out nine in three innings and Flor Colon went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBI.
   Saul 16, Fels 10: Mike Koszowski went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and five RBI. Bruce Morrison scored four runs.
   Lamberton 6, Penn 4: Robert Harvey went the distance and collected four RBI on a two-run double and two-run homer. David Astrel had a two-run dinger for Penn.
    Furness 11, Univ. City 1: Rob Felker fanned 11 in the five-inning game. Chris Cimini (three hits, homer, five RBI) and Ed Vargas (three hits, three RBI) led the offense.
   Eng. and Science 13, Mastbaum 7: David Biddle got the win and Jason Gordienko went 3-for-4.
   Olney 11, Overbrook 1: Edwin DeLeon struck out 10 in six innings. Eddie Ortiz went 3-for-3 and scored twice while Mike Burgos went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.
   Lincoln 16, Edison 5: Tim Szychulski fanned eight in the five-inning game and went 3-for-3 with a double, solo homer and four RBI.
    Frankford 6, Central 5 (9 inn.): Tom DiBello won in relief as Howard Sherman walked in the home ninth and ultimately scored on a balk.
    Roxborough 12, Bok 8: Mike Gibbs pitched a seven-hitter with 15 strikeouts and went 2-for-4. Joe Brecht went 3-for-4.
   Bartram 9, GAMP 8: Winner Anthony Boyer knocked in the tying run in the home seventh with a double and Nasser Woodlock won it by drawing a bases-loaded walk. Akei Johnson had a solo homer.
   Washington 10, Northeast 7: Charlie Ritterson fanned 11. Joe Sannutti went 2-for-4 with three RBI and scored three runs. Chris Drobish and Jason Weinstein also went 2-for-4.
    Germantown 12, West 2: Ken Mallory pitched a five-inning two-hitter with 11 whiffs.
    Note: The Frankford-Washington game has been switched from Thursday to Wednesday.
Catholic League
   North 1, McDevitt 0: Dan Szychulski pitched a five-hitter with nine strikeouts and Mike Piotrowicz scored on a dropped fly in the fourth. In the sixth, SS Timmy Greer turned an unassisted doubleplay. McDevitt's Luke Erb allowed just one hit, a double to Szychulski.
     Roman 4, Carroll 2: Soph Matt Daley allowed six hits and fanned eight while raising his record to 4-0. Todd Kiefski went 2-for-3 with an RBI double. Joe McCourt stole second and third and scored the run to make it 3-2 on Dennis DiGiovanni's single.

   Neumann 10, West 0: Rob Zioli (five innings) and Justin Lannutti combined on a two-hitter. Bill Loskiewictz went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI while Chris Renzi had a two-run single.
    Dougherty 5, Wood 3: Dustin Overturf got the win and had a two-run triple. Mickey King went 4-for-4 with an RBI and Tom Kee had an RBI triple.
Inter-Ac League
    Malvern 8, Episcopal 3: Ross Barna went 5.1 innings for the win. Joe Milani went 2-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBI and Mike Illgas had two doubles, two RBI. Episcopal's Ian Wallace went 3-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBI.
    C. Hill 7, Hav. School 1: Spencer Smith scattered seven hits and fanned 12.
    Penn Charter 10, Gtn. Academy 2: Taylor Baum pitched a seven-hitter and Aaron Mittica doubled twice.

Public League
   Furness 9, King 0: Tim McKenzie struck out 10 in a two-hitter and Chris Cimini had three RBI.
   Franklin LC 4, Germantown 3: Joe Holt toughed out an 11-hitter and got the game-winning RBI in a two-run home sixth.
    Northeast 10, Lincoln 8: Dave Firth saved Ari Bluestein’s win while adding a double and two-run homer. Sean O’Flynn also homered. Ron Clarkson and Tim Szychulski homered for Lincoln.
    Penn 10, Southern 6: John Moore had a strange game, allowing 11 hits while striking out 17. He also went 4-for-4 with two doubles.
    Lamberton 8, Mansion 4: Tim Bryant pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and doubled.
   Eng. and Science 14, Overbrook 11: Chris Daly got the win and had three RBI. Overbrook’s Andre Andrews allowed eight hits and nine walks while fanning 12.
    Fels 13, Roxborough 8: James Roberts got the win and slugged a solo homer. Mike Gibbs had a two-run homer for Roxborough.
    Gratz 17, Univ. City 7: Anthony Evans got the win. Freshman LF Charles Brown went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI and made two spectacular ctaches with the bases loaded.
    GAMP 7, Frankford 6: Mike Sacco fanned nine and David Scirrotto threw out the tying run at the plate in the visiting seventh.
    West 14, Dobbins 6: Terrell Roper got the win and had a three-run homer.
   Washington 15, Bartram 11: Ivan Kosty went 4-for-5 with a three-run triple to make Charlie Ritterson a winner. Akei Johnson (four RBI) and Chironn Davis (solo homer) starred for Bartram.
   Olney 15, Saul 14: Andy Godlewski and Chris Condrone homered for Saul in a nine-run home seventh. Ivan Colon went six strong innings for Olney and Eddie Ortiz homered.

   Judge 2, North 1: Coach Joe McDermott raised his 26-year CL record to 300-152 as Paul Koenig pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and scored both runs. Chris Muessig and Mark Dickson had the RBI.
   Neumann 9, SJ Prep 5: Jarrett Troccoli went 3-for-3 with two RBI and his brother, Justin, saved the win for Billy Loskiewictz (2-for-2, two RBI). Chris Renzi added two hits, two RBI.
   Ryan 9, Dougherty 2: Winner Lou DeTitto (RBI triple) and Tom Dolan (two-run single) had big hits in Ryan's seven-run sixth.
   O'Hara 16, Roman 1: Kenny Grant pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 4-for-5 with two homers and eight RBI.
    La Salle 4, Wood 2: Chris Tuman (6.1 innings) and Dan Waters did the pitching. John Reifsnyder had an RBI single.
   Kennedy-Kenrick 3, West 1: Brett Heselpoth took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with a 10-strikeout two-hitter. Craig Borzillo (two-run single) and Joe Zazworskey (solo homer) accounted for K-K's runs. Mike D'Elia allowed five hits.
   Carroll 8, Bonner 7: Matt Kirsch fanned 13 in six innings. Bonner scored five in the visiting seventh, then Carroll won it as Ted Piotrowicz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Dan Auld (three-run) and Paul Kollhoff (two-run) homered for Bonner.

SS Matt Mercurio preserved the no-hitter with two out in the seventh by cutting across the diamond for a groundball and getting the out on a bang-bang play. A.J. Conti (homer) and Brandon Smith both went 3-for-3 with three RBI.
    Carroll 16, Kennedy-Kenrick 13: The teams combined for 13 homers with the wind blowing a gale straight out in Carroll’s phone booth-sized park. Jim Gillin ended it with a three-run blast in the home seventh. Ted Piotrowicz (two), Mick Hannan, Marty Higgins and Anthony Altomare also homered for Carroll. K-K’s dingers were hit by Chris Lubanski (three), Jason Rowinski, Rob Johnson, Brett Heselpoth and Marc Wagner.

    Washington 12, Bartram 4: Washington’s 14 hits included Joe Sannutti’s 4-for-5 and three steals, and Jason Weinstein’s 3-for-4 with three RBI.
    FLC 13, Dobbins 3: FLC capitalized on two hits each by Cody Worthey and Brandon Richardson, and nine Dobbins errors.

    Gratz 11, Penn 10: Gratz rallied with a four-run seventh, capped by Anthony Geiger’s game-tying RBI single and Rakiem Smith’s winning run on a passed ball. Geiger also homered and pitcher Ray Monk was 4 for 4.
    West Phila. 7, Franklin 4: Terrell Roper threw a one-hitter, with short relief by Anthony Vanderhorst, and David Fitzgerald had an RBI single and a two-run double.
    Lamberton 11, Germantown 1: Tim Bryant fanned 10 batters, and Raneef Fletcher, Robert Harvey and Tim Bryant contributed two hits each.

    Roman 11, Conwell-Egan 2: Joe McCourt went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two stolen bases to support Pat Trunfio (five-hitter). Anthony Dombrowski went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI. Matt Crimm homered.
