PUBLIC LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
Preliminary Rounds
Class AAA Final
Phila. Elec. 11, Fkn Towne 9: Pitcher Luke Moscinski went
3-for-4 with four RBI and his three-run double provided an 11-4 lead in the
visiting seventh. Moscinski dislocated a pinkie on his glove hand trying to
catch a liner with two on and none away in the bottom half, then Rob Boreman
persevered through some tough times to lock up the win. Sean Holmes had three
hits. Chuck Fitzgerald, Randy Pizzo and Sam Petrowski added two apiece. FT's
Jason Krajewski went 3-for-4 with a double, walk and two RBI.
Class AA Final
Prep Charter 8, Esperanza 7: Sam Shipley (four innings) and
Sean McGovern (five Ks in three) combined on a four-hitter. Brian Moffitt
(three) and Joe Crooks contributed five total RBI. PC's seven-run home lead made
it 8-4.
Class AAAA
Central 15, Mastbaum 0: Steve Schall pitched a three inning
no-hitter with six strikeouts. A batter who walked was erased in a double play.
Zach Magdovitz turned two hits into four RBI. Zack King doubled and tripled for
two ribbies.
Frankford 16, Overbrook 1: Edwin "Tito" Rohena fanned nine in the
four inning contest and had three RBI. Robinson Rodriguez doubled twice for
three RBI.
Lincoln 4, Edison 3: David Mosher (5.2 innings) and Kevin Adamson
combined on a two-hitter. Adamson entered with the bases loaded in the home
sixth and recorded a whiff. The seventh: walk-K-K-K. Lincoln seized a 3-0 lead
in the fourth on Nick Arnott's single, then Rob Eddis brought home Arnott with a
groundout.
Washington 3, Kensington 2: Stan Borodyansky pitched a
three-hitter with six whiffs and one walk. Damien Wilmer doubled and tripled and
scored a run. Mike LaRose's RBI single made it 3-0 in the home fourth.
Northeast 11, Olney 1: Brian Susten allowed three hits over the
five innings while striking out seven. Jose Delgado doubled and tripled en route
to collecting two RBI and scoring twice.
CATHOLIC LEAGUE
North 14, Bonner 3: Kegan Smith got the win with help from
Chris James and Mike "Zoom" Zolk, who each doubled en route to halving six RBI.
Bob Hopkins added two hits and scored three runs.
La Salle 8, Judge 4: Matt Day fanned six in as many innings and
Frank Pierson doubled and tripled for two RBI.
O'Hara 12, Ryan 1: Russ Trojan pitched five innings and Bill Pace
stroked a solo homer en route to two RBI. Mike Baselice added two hits, one
ribbie. Ryan's Jon Schmidt doubled twice.
SJ Prep 9, Roman 0: Brett Tiagwad led off with sixth his 100th
career hit, a single. Aaron Haas pitched a two-hitter and went 3-for-4 with two
RBI and two runs scored.
INTER-AC LEAGUE
Chestnut Hill 4, Gtn. Academy 2: Mike Mattei scattered eight
hits, fanned five and went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI. The result
clinched the title for Malvern (8-0, two games left). GA's Tommy Coyle and Colin
Kish managed doubles and two hits apiece.

PUBLIC LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
Preliminary Rounds
Class A Final
GAMP 9, Masterman 4: Foster McKoskey pitched the first 6.1
innings, Christian Matticks slammed a two-run homer and Ron Malandro, Joe
Coppolla and Jon Sheridan stroked singles worth one run apiece. For Masterman,
Evan Hunt went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a homer for three RBI. Adam "All My
Children" Chandler also went yard.
Class AA Semifinals
Esperanza 14, Saul 8: Luis Santos' three-run homer provided a
3-2 lead and Reinaldo Benitez pitched 4.1 innings for the win.
Prep Charter 8, Eng. and Science 2: Joe Crooks pitched two-hit,
14-whiff ball over six innings in two stints and went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Sean
McGovern and Angelo DelVecchio halved four hits, four RBI.
Class AAA Semifinals
Phila. Elec. 7, Roxborough 6: Chuck Fitzgerald allowed four
hits, fanned 12 and posted a two-run double. Luke Moscinski drew a bases-loaded
walk in the home fourth to make it 7-5.
Fkn Towne 16, Swenson 6: Mike Croft fanned six in four frames,
Mike Skinner went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Jason Krajewski's double was the only
hit of the game (among 18) to go for extra bases.
CATHOLIC LEAGUE
Neumann-Goretti 5, Wood 0: T.J. Kinsey pitched a three-hitter.
Support came from Al Baur (3-for-3, two runs scored), Dan Behlau (2-for-3, two
RBI) and Mark Donato (solo homer).
Conwell-Egan 7, Dougherty 0: Andrew Sinon upped his league record
to 6-0 in a six-hitter, and went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Je Petrino added two hits
and as many runs scored.
Carroll 6, West 4: Neil Gilman slammed a two-run homer to make Bob
Hayes (four innings) a winner. In league play, West is 4-131 since the final
three games of the 2000 season and has dropped 69 in a row.
SJ Prep 10, Roman 3: Aaron Haas went 2-for-3 with a three-run
homer and four RBI. Brett Tiagwad (3-for-5, two RBI) and Perry Russom hit solo
shots, as did Roman's Brian Karakaedos. Kyle Mullen got the win.
Bonner 8, North 4: Conor Kerins finished 7-0 in league play by
allowing two hits and fanning nine in 5.1 innings. Rob Benedict had three hits,
two RBI. Lou Tomasetti (two RBI) and Bill Hollingsworth (two hits) helped.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE
Neumann-Goretti 9, Wood 4 (8 inn.): Aggie Osano went 3-for-6
with a double and one RBI, Dan Behlau doubled twice for two RBI, Joey Armata had
the first RBI in the visiting eighth and Mark Donato won (two innings) in relief
of Nick Piscitelli. Wood's Brian O'Grady had two hits and Jim Heilman hammered
an RBI double.
La Salle 4, Judge 0: Shawn O'Neill pitched a one-hitter with five
whiffs and two walks and Kevin Johnson tripled.
Ryan 5, O'Hara 4: Nick Ferdinand allowed six hits and went 2-for-2
with a triple. Kevin Bryan doubled en route to two RBI.
Carroll 10, West 0: Andrew Luskin (three innings) and Bill Stanley
combined on a five inning no-hitter; Luskin caught the last two frames. Nick
Szalejko "Meatball" went 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBI.
Conwell-Egan 12, Dougherty 2: Rick Horn pitched a three-hitter
over six frames. Daulton George (three) and Chris Fischer (two) smacked doubles
worth multiple RBI.
INTER-AC LEAGUE
Penn Charter 9, Gtn. Academy 5: Mike Carroll fanned five as
the Quakers' win allowed Malvern to clinch a title tie. Jack Nazarewycz went
3-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBI; all on a triple in a six-run home
sixth.
Malvern 13, Episcopal 1: Rich Kazigian pitched four innings, Chris
"Goose" Gosik had three RBI with the help of a two-run homer and Tyler Young
went 2-for-3 with two ribbies.
Chestnut Hill 7, Haver. School 6: Mike Mattei gave himself the win
a sac fly in the home seventh. Jon Kuneck went 3-for-4 with a double, and scored
the winning run.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE
Kennedy-Kenrick 10, Carroll 5: Christian "Ya-Ya" Walker went
3-for-3 with a walk, homer and two RBI while Matt Marino stroked a single and
triple for two RBI apiece. Steve Hopwood got the win, with shutout relief from
Ed Skilton (two innings) and Steve Mahoney (one). Carroll's Neil Gilman hammered
a two-run single.
Neumann-Goretti 4, McDevitt 3: Nick Piscitelli pitched a
six-hitter with seven whiffs and Mark Donato went 3-for-3 with a double, triple
and three RBI.
Dougherty 7, West 5: John Furphy fanned 10 in a five-hitter and
Joe Halbherr had three hits, two ribbies.
Conwell-Egan 6, Wood 1: Andrew Sinon scattered six hits. Help came
from Rick Horn (two-run triple) and Joe Tretter (3-for-3, RBI, three runs
scored).

Class A Semifinal
Masterman 13, Phila. Acad. 4: David Ashbridge fanned 11 and
walked non over five innings. Billy Powers smacked a grand slam en route to five
RBI and Adam "All My Children" Chandler doubled thrice.
Class AAA
Swenson 9, Franklin 4: Justin Holzshu's leadoff triple and Dom
Simone's RBI double ignited Swenson's four-run home sixth. Steve "Alphabet"
Grzeszczak had a two-run double in the
second. Pat Quinn pitched four innings to win in relief.
Regular Season
GAMP 8, Frankford 7: Eugene Aversa prevented Frankford from
completing a 14-0 regular season by smashing a two-run, two-out homer in
the bottom of the seventh. Christian Matticks earlier went yard for two runs.
Foster McKoskey (three innings) won in relief. Frankford's Edwin "Tito" Rohena
tripled and homered.
Central 12, Washington 2: Micah Winterstein allowed one hit in
four innings and went 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored.
Steve Schall bagged a two-run single to end it in the home sixth.
Northeast 17, Edison 2: Brian Susten won it. Tim Freiling (two-run
homer) and Jose Delgado (two doubles) led the attack.

CATHOLIC LEAGUE
La Salle 7, North 3: Matt Day struck out eight and allowed
seven hits. Joe Harvey and Jeff Murtha had two hits apiece.
SJ Prep 5, Ryan 2: Aaron Haas pitched five innings and Pat Malloy
bagged a two-run double.
Roman 7, Judge 6: Tom McGee homered in the sixth and delivered a
game-winning RBI single in the seventh. Tom Mauro won in relief. Judge's Tim
Ashenbrenner homered.
Bonner 6, O'Hara 5: The Friars won on a walk-off walk.
PUBLIC LEAGUE
Fkn Towne 11, Phila. Elec. 9: Mike Skinner pitched four
scoreless inning in relief and Nick Greco doubled twice for two RBI.
Olney 7, Saul 4: Carlos Gil went five frames and Benji Cruz
went 3-for-4 with three RBI (12 in his last three games). Cruz escaped from a
two-out, no-out jam in the sixth en route to earning a save.
Mastbaum 10, Franklin LC 9 (8 inn.): Nate Rodriguez's RBI single
made it 10-8 in the visiting eighth.
Roxborough 15, Bok 5: Pat Cummiskey clobbered a two-run homer.
Amir Boler doubled and Steve Tucker tripled.

INTER-AC LEAGUE
Gtn. Academy 4, Malvern 2: Lefthander Colin Kish bagged three
RBI on a sac fly and two-run single and shared the sixth and seventh, in back
and forth fashion (eight batters total), with righthander Slater McCue.
Malvern's overall record dropped to 33-2.
Penn Charter 11, Chestnut Hill 5: Brett Slobodinsky went 5.1
innings. Mark Rhine and Jack Nazarewycz stroked two-run singles in a five-run
fourth. Doug Fleming homered earlier.
Haver. School 13, Episcopal 9: Winner Ben Ashton went 4-for-4 with
a double and two RBI.
CATHOLIC LEAGUE
Dougherty 12, West 4: Joe Halbherr fanned 11 while receiving
support from Joe Gallagher (single, double, triple, three RBI) and Joe Bozzelli
(double, triple, four RBI).
Neumann-Goretti 12, McDevitt 4: Mark Donato whiffed eight over
four frames. Dom Riverso poled a two-run homer while Aggie Osano and Dan Behlau
halved six hits, four RBI.

three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks, Jon Drummond singled, doubled and
tripled for five RBI.

Swenson 5, Furness 0: Harry Davila (he allowed it), Pat Quinn
and Javier Sanchez combined to spin a one-hitter with three, three and one
inning, respectively. Quinn fanned seven and went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Franklin 16, W. Phila. 6: Khaleen Brown went 3-for-4 and Angel
Roman won in relief, striking out three in two frames.
Class AAAA
Kensington 10, Dobbins 0: Ricardo Torres struck out 13 over
five innings and gave up two hits while walking none. Frank Soto turned two
singles and a triple into three RBI.
Overbrook 10, Fels 8: Carlos Payano struck out 10 in a
complete-game effort. Joe Clements ripped a two-run double and drove in four
runs.

featured a total of 26 walks, 23 strikeouts, six HBPs. For PC, Mick Foley
slammed a three-run homer, Rob Amaro reached base six times (two hits, four
walks) and Mark Rhine scored four runs while pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless
relief. For HS, Matt Lipson (three-run) and Vince Rondolone (two-run) cracked
homers.
Malvern 4, Chestnut Hill 2: John Gentile pitched a six-hitter and
Nick Busillo hammered a three-run triple in the first inning.
PUBLIC LEAGUE
Frankford 16, Edison 0: Jose Burgos pitched a one-hitter over
three innings. Edwin "Tito" Rohena (2-for-3, four RBI) and Dave Doggett (three
RBI) paced the assault.
Roxborough 7, Mastbaum 6 (9 inn.): Freshman Chris Sponsler poled a
two-out, two-strike, three-run, tape-measure homer in the home seventh to
prolong the game, then delivered an RBI single in the ninth to win it.
Baserunner Steve Tucker had reached on a strikeout/passed ball combo.
Olney 14, Saul 8: Jose Rodriguez restored order (two runs) over
the final four innings and Benji Cruz went 2-for-3 with a double, five RBI.

SJ Prep 6, Judge 2: Dan Turner's two-run double highlighted a
five-run home fifth, erasing a 2-1 deficit. Kevin Gillen (nine in five innings)
and Tom Carbone (four in two) combined for 13 whiffs. Judge's Kevin Conroy went
2-for-4 with a double, two RBI.
North 3, O'Hara 2: Ryan Etsell pitched a five-hitter with 10 Ks
and Ryan Hires broke a 2-2 tie in the visiting sixth with an RBI double. Etsell
and Chris Morrin had the other ribbies. Tom Coyle (RBI) and Bill Pace tripled
for O'Hara.
La Salle 2, Bonner 1: In the visiting sixth, Tyler Freeman doubled
and Joe Harvey singled him home for his second RBI. Matt Day allowed three hits
and two walks while fanning six.
Ryan 3, Roman 2: Pat Kwiatkowski scored the decisive run in the
home sixth on a bases-loaded walk. Nick Ferdinand got the win.
Kennedy-Kenrick 13, West 0: Evan Basile posted a three-run homer
en route to four RBI. He also scored four runs.

walks and eight whiffs while Tim Freiling added a double and a three-run homer.
Ron Malandro's blast accounted for GAMP's run.
Edison 8, Prep Charter 3: Alex Lajara got the win and smacked a
two-run homer. Brian Santiago also bagged two RBI.

Evan Hunt posted two hits, including a double, for two RBI.
Furness 8, Overbrook 8 (8 inn.; tie): In Overbrook's six-run home
seventh, Carlos Payano (three RBI) managed a two-run single and Mark Dawson
lofted a sac fly to force extras. Payano pitched all eight innings (seven hits,
eight walks, 10 whiffs). For Furness, Ryan Gonzalez dismissed 10 and Naim Fox
went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI.
Fkn Towne 20, Bok 6: The Coyotes lashed 28 hits. Mike Croft struck
out 11.
Fels 6, Bartram 4: Edgardo Lozano fanned 12 in a four-hitter as
Fels claimed a playoff spot in this head-to-head showdown.

Dobbins 12, Univ. City 11: After issuing intentional walks to
two batters, thus loading the bases, Dobbins held on when a runner was called
for interfering with first baseman Darryl Clark, who was trying to catch a
popup. Brian Gibson and Fred Jones laced RBI triples in a three-run visiting
seventh. Terrell "Mouse" Barringer had two doubles, two RBI. Demetrius "Meech"
Robinson went the distance. UC's Jermaine Kamara had three RBI.
Phila. Acad. 15, Lamberton 0: Tony Summers went 3-for-4 with four
RBI on a game-ending grand slam. He also fanned eight in a four inning
one-hitter.
Fkn Towne 11, Franklin LC 1: Jason Krajewski allowed two hits over
five innings and Mike Croft collected two hits, two RBI.
Bok 9, Mastbaum 8 (8 inn.): Anthony Rivers scored the winning run
on a wild pitch in the visiting eighth. Chris Crespo had a two-run single in the
home seventh. Joey Ferlaino got the win in relief.

four-hitter and snapped a 4-4 tie with a with a two-run homer in the visiting

tripled and singled in that frame while Aggie Osano went 3-for-4 with two
doubles for one RBI.
Carroll 15, Dougherty 5: Andrew Candelore fanned six in four innings and
Phil Dougherty poled two-run and three-run homers for five RBI.
Ryan 8, Roman 2: Tom Neely walked none in his six innings of work and Bob Steffney contributed two hits, two RBI.
Wood 12, McDevitt 2: Pete Gubicza received support in the form of
three-run homers from Brian O'Grady and Kyle Schwab.

featured two-run hits by Josh Van Horn (single), Bob Callan and Matt DeBarberie
