| MISSION STATEMENT My primary focus here is not to just make predictions, but to have high school football fans get a look at some of the more interesting and compelling games going around on the city for that weekend. Huck's Gems won't always pit the best teams versus one another. On many occasions, teams may not be as talented as some of the upper echelon teams, but nonetheless go out and produce some of the more enjoyable moments of the football season. For example, a Huck's Gem might include teams or team that feature a neighborhood rivalry, a dynamic offense, a bone-crunching defense, or a team who has an individual player who can create magic whenever he touches the ball. Huck's note: "I don’t know why I waste my breath, but I’m going to do it again, so Pucklehead can maybe understand the closest to the score formula. Why I just used the word formula is beyond me because it’s really not that difficult to comprehend! I like to think of myself as a person with reasonable intelligence, but I’ll never be confused with an astronaut! Thus, this is not some elaborate math equation! Ok, here we go. Here’s an example: Upper Darby beat Bonner, 20-6. I predicted UD to win 27-7, while Puck picked 28-14. I predicted 27 for UD and they scored 20, therefore I missed by 7 points on UD’s score. I predicted 7 for Bonner and they scored 6, therefore I missed by one point on MB’s score. In that game, I was off (7+1=8) by 8 points. In turn, Puck Missed on UD by 8 points and MB by 8 points, for a total of 16. In this one game I bested Puck by 8 total points. He was 16 total points away from nailing the score and I was only 8 points away. Simple arithmetic is all it takes! I go game by game and calculate the differences. So, hammerhead (aka – Pucklehead) stop predicting scores of 2-0, like in the Freire/Furness game. You were a mere 48 points away, since they played a 30-20 game. By the way, I missed that game by 32 points myself. A near miss constitutes a game I pick that comes within a combined ten or less total points.
