In 1986, Eastern's softball team, coached by Jack Hagan, won South Jersey and state championships in the Group 4 (highest enrollment) classification. Here are recaps of the playoff games . . .

1986
SOUTH JERSEY PLAYOFFS
First Round
  Eastern 2, Cumberland 0:
Sue Graham pitched a two-hitter and received the only run she needed when Liz Allen thumped a single to drive in Stephanie Stratoti (triple).
Quarterfinal
  Eastern 7, Millville 2:
The Vikings, seeded eighth, topped No. 1 Millville as Lynn Donovan smacked a two-run double and Heather MacDuff went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Sue Graham allowed four hits.
Semifinal
  Eastern 2, Shawnee 1:
Sue Graham spun a two-hitter and Liz Allen singled to drive in Jackie Masters with the decisive run.
Final
  Eastern 7, Triton 3:
Stephanie Stratoti (triple, two RBI) and Liz Allen (one RBI) halved six hits and Jackie Masters continued her impressive production out of the No. 9 hole with a two-run triple as the Vikings won their first SJ crown. Sue Graham overcame the shock of allowing three runs (all unearned) in the first inning by notching a three-hitter and retiring the final 16 batters.
STATE PLAYOFFS
Semifinal
  Eastern 12, Edison 0:
Sue Graham crafted a one-hitter and eight hits produced an eight-run fifth inning. The highlight was Stephanie Stratoti's three-run triple. Jackie Masters went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Final
  Eastern 2, Ridgewood 1:
Sue Graham, overcoming the lingering effects of a pinched nerve in her right shoulder, posted another one-hitter and, over a span from the fourth to seventh inning, retired 10 consecutive batters on just 13 pitches. She also drove in a run in the third, then scored when a popup off Heather MacDuff's bat was dropped. Ridgewood scored an unearned run in the seventh and had the tying run on base when a flyball to rightfielder Aileen Donovan set off a wild celebration.

In 2010, Eastern's softball team, coached by Jamie McGroarty, won the South Jersey championship and advanced to the state final in the Group 4 (highest enrollment) classification. Here are recaps of the playoff games . . .

2010
SOUTH JERSEY PLAYOFFS
First Round
  Eastern 9, Lenape 0:
Cherelle Chambers paced the rout by collecting four RBI on a two-run single and a two-run double. Rachel Bernstein had two hits, one RBI. Sam Lemm struck out 10 in a six-hitter.
Quarterfinal
  Eastern 4, Williamstown 0:
Sam Lemm allowed three hits and smacked a triple.
Semifinal
  Eastern 8, Washington Township 4:
In an all-time oddity, the Vikings scored four of their first five runs on wild pitches. Cherelle Chambers bagged two RBI and Sam Lemm toughed out a nine-hitter.
Final
  Eastern 3, Shawnee 2:
Sam Lemm allowed five hits and ended the game with her 12th strikeout after Shawnee created major stress with a two-run, two-out double. Megan Parker's sacrifice fly scored Madison Tiernan with what turned out to be the winning run in the visiting seventh. In the second, Rachel Bernstein singled home a run and scored on an error.
STATE PLAYOFFS
Semifinal
  Eastern 7, East Brunswick 1:
Sam Lemm allowed five hits and two walks while fanning six, and helped her cause with two RBI. Steph Vuono lashed a two-run double.
Final
  Morris Knolls 4, Eastern 3:
The Vikings scored one run in the first when Taylor Kreston was hit by a pitch and two in the third when Steph Vuono stroked a single. Sam Lemm struck out six in a seven-hitter.

In 2012, Eastern's softball team, coached by Jamie McGroarty, won South Jersey and state championships in the Group 4 (highest enrollment) classification. Here are recaps of the playoff games . . .

2012
SOUTH JERSEY PLAYOFFS
First Round
Eastern 1, Toms River North 0:
Steph Vuono mowed down nine and Steph Wolfrom lofted a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Quarterfinal
  Eastern 3, Vineland 1:
After singles by sisters Megan/Melissa Parker and a walk to Gen Gaynor loaded the bases in the fifth inning, Kim Jevic reached base on an error that allowed two runs to score and erase a 1-0 deficit. Steph Vuono whiffed nine.
Semifinal
  Eastern 6, Shawnee 3:
Steph Vuono struck out nine in a six-hitter and the Vikings scored runs apiece in the third and sixth. Madison Tiernan went 2-for-2 with two walks and three steals while scoring three runs.
Final
Eastern 4, Toms River East 3:
The Vikings captured their second SJ title in three years, and third in all, as Madison Tiernan went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Gen Gaynor smacked the lone extra-base hit, a double. TRE rallied hard after falling into a 4-0 hole.
STATE PLAYOFFS
Semifinal
  Eastern 4, East Brunswick 0:
All three hits allowed by Steph Vuono, who fanned six and walked one, were harmless two-out singles.
Final
  Eastern 2, Hunterdon Central 0:
Steph Vuono turned in a wonderful performance while leading the Vikings to their second state championship (also 1986). She allowed one hit (not 'til the sixth inning), walked none and punched out seven while finalizing her season record at 21-4; the team went 22-4. Steph Wolfrom hammered an RBI double in the sixth. In the seventh, Gen Gaynor singled and yielded to courtesy runner Ally Schmus, who eventually scored on an error.
