St. Augustine 30, St. Mary (Rutherford) 8:
In year No. 7 of the program's existence, third-year coach Frank Fucetola steered the Hermits to the state championship. The absence of star rusher Johnny Carter proved to be no problem as Delray Pointer (18-123, two) and Dan Flamma (14-119) combined for three TDs. Jesse Cornely attempted just three passes, but one was a 64-yard TD to T.J. Meyers.
