GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
*A benefit to raise funds for the
"Losing Is Not An Option" foundation, as directed by Saint Joseph's
University baseball player Joey Gorman, who has twice overcome brain
surgery, will be held Saturday, May
16, at the Shooting Stars NYB Club, 1931 S. 3rd Street, in
Philadelphia. Earlier, the Shooting Stars will be on Hawk Hill to watch
Saint Joe's 11 a.m. baseball game vs. St. Louis University.
*Penn Charter will hold a memorial
service to honor the late Jim Lampe ('64), a three-sport star, New York Mets
bonus baby and trendsetter in the artificial turf industry, on Friday,
June 26, 4 p.m., in the
school's assembly room. A reception will follow at 5 p.m. in the Timmons
House, which is also on campus.
*The Little Quakers' ninth

*On Friday, May 1, at 9 a.m., Northeast High will hold a ceremony to retire the No. 33 jersey worn by 1967 grad Mike Kamen. Mike, who passed away recently, remains the school's all-time leading career scorer (almost 1,500 points). The event was coordinated by teammate Bob Caplan and Ira Stern, the school's current coach.
*Perry Canfield, a 1974 Penn Charter grad, passed away suddenly last fall at
age 58. Perry's classmates, and those of his three older brothers (Bill, Rob
and Howie), are working on a memorial that would capture Perry's fondness
